If you like to sing, then why not come and join us?
The Harmonisers, an all male Barbershop Chorus, are always looking for new
singers, so if you live or plan to live on the Costa Blanca in sunny Spain,
within travelling distance of Torrevieja, why not come along to one of our
rehearsals and find out what barbershop singing is all about.
Perhaps you are planning to move to Spain from another country, what better
way to start a new life than to come and join a great club like ours. We
will make you and your partner very welcome and we have many opportunities
for singing as well as socialising.
There is also a barbershop chorus for
ladies, check out their website at
www.velvetones.org
We sing in English, but as you would expect we have several nationalities in
our chorus with ages ranging from the 50’s to the 70’s. You do not need to
be able to read music and you may not have sung before but if you can sing
in pitch and hold a tune we can teach you the rest.
We rehearse every Tuesday morning at
Restaurant Paraiso,
Urb.
Los Angeles, Torrevieja
(see map info on
Contact page). commencing at 10.00am. Come along and
listen in, you will be made very welcome, if you enjoy what you hear then
consider joining us.
If
you decide to give singing a try our Musical Director will test your voice,
to see which of the four voice parts suits you best and your section leader
will introduce you to the rest of your section.
We start off with a few vocal warm ups, including scales, to get us ready
for singing then we may sing one or two short traditional barbershop songs
to help our warm up.
These traditional songs, called Polecats, are learned
by barbershop clubs the world over so when we meet other barbershoppers we
always know some songs we can sing together.
After a 20 minute coffee break we then do some work on songs from our
current repertoire and then maybe get working on a new song or two. If we
are preparing for a Singout (a Show) we will go over the songs we will be
singing so they become fresh in our minds.
Barbershoppers really enjoy their music and the comradeship the Club offers
so why not check out our
Contact
page and give one of us a call ?
