The Harmonisers Barbershop Chorus.
Whatever your singing talents you’ll always find a warm welcome from The Harmonisers.

We have an excellent Committee, led by our new Chairman Tony Wagstaff, managing the Club’s affairs and a very experienced Musical team lead by our new Musical Director, Gail Granger.
Our Club Magazine, edited by Jim Collins, helps ensure we present and past members well informed of our activities. Our Club was founded in 1991 by Harry Hall, a well known and experienced BABS barbershop MD.
We have also benefited from other gifted MD’s and received coaching from top class BABS educators such as John Conway, Stuart Sides, Mike Taylor and Stuart Owen. In both 1994 and 1996 The Harmonisers were invited by The British Association of Barbershop Singers to perform as mike warmers at their annual convention, in Brighton and Bournemouth, amid much critical acclaim.
Our MD for the last seven years, until his retirement in August 2009, was Chas Smith. Chas was a gifted musician with the Salvation Army and the RAF and taught and directed a number of choirs and bands in the UK.
We have to thank Chas for in helping develop The Harmonisers into the premier male Barbershop Chorus in Spain.

Our new MD is Gail Grainger, an experienced LABBS Barbershopper and, SABS vice president is now working with the chorus to continue raising the standard of our performances.

It was here that In 2006 the Club organised a 10 week ‘Sing In Harmony’ course based on the Lincoln Model, which was very successful and a good number of our present members were recruited from the course.

A number of our members have been actively involved with our Barbershop colleagues in Spain to set up The Spanish Association of Barbershop Singers (SABS).

The first SABS Barbershop Festival was held in Torrevieja in June 2009 and in March 2010 we held our Convention in Madrid, which was attended by  Barbershop Singers from all over Spain and we were honoured to be able to welcome Senior representatives of BHS, WHC,BABS, LABBS and Sweet Adelines.

Representatives from Australia also came to Spain to support us. Barbershop singing in Spain is growing in popularity and YOU can be part of it. We are here in Spain to enjoy ourselves and what better way than making music ‘barbershop style’.

The Harmonisers are well known throughout the Costa Blanca, performing in Theatres and other venues between Murcia and Alicante. We have also staged performances as far afield as Fuengirola in the South and Benissa in the North and in Madrid.

The majority of our performances are for charities and each year we donate several thousand euros to our chosen charities. Why not come along to one of our Tuesday rehearsals and find out for yourself (see location map on the CONTACTS page).

We currently have over 40 members and regularly have 35 men on the risers. Because the majority of our members, many of whom still have close ties with their home country, we are constantly looking for new members to ensure we have a good balance of voice parts at all our singouts.
