Steve Harper member of THE HARMONISERS
Written by Steve Harper good friend of Glynn Evans and member of THE HARMONISERS.

Glyn has been singing Barbershop for something approaching 40 years and, infact, introduced me to Barbershop singing with Wellington Close Harmony back in the 1970's. WCH were never members of BABS but were helped, encouraged and provided with music by the very well known Bridgewater club and the "Shy Guys" - a legendary quartet famous for comedy and a foam piano which visited most parts of the uk on top of a car and was one of their props for singing "The Old Piano Roll Blues".

In the early 80's, Glyn and I were original members of the "River Tones" for whom Glyn has sung until this day, and he is their Lifetime President. Glyn is by some distance the "Grandfather" of BABS as their oldest active member, although, at 94 he is having to slow down a little.
However, he still goes to Convention, still sings  and, occasionally, still performs with the "River Tones", for whom he was on stage for their 25th anniversary concert (with the Great Western Chorus and other groups) in 2008.

He can sing all 4 parts but, strangely, prefers Baritone and likes Lead least. He is still spreading the word and simply loved being with us in Torrevieja, and having the opportunity to address us and he asked me to send his warmest wishes and thanks for the warmth of our welcome.

I feel honoured that he was able to be there and hope he is able to continue for many years to come - who could doubt it seeing his still amazing enthusiasm and vigour!
